Groovy Ruby Rocks (and I’m giving away a CD)

So I guess I didn't scare you off, huh? Good! Welcome back!

Who knew a girl band could be so cool to little girls? Sure, there are other girl groups out there but I don’t think you want your 5 to 11 year old listening to The Donnas or The Runaways. So if Britney or Miley are a bit much for you and your girls, get them the latest Groovy Ruby Rocks CD.

Dean Laterra, the teacher and songwriter behind Groovy Ruby, describes them as “Beatles meets the Go-Go Girls”…perfect description! The music is upbeat and the lyrics have a lesson in them.

Take a look at some of the stories behind the songs:

Right Now – Now is the perfect time to do your part in spreading love
around the world and making it a better place. Hold open a door. Say
hello with a smile. Whatever. Do something that spreads a little love.

It’s Okay – Stop worrying already. Life has ups and downs, but just
keep doing your best and plugging away and everything will be just
fine. No one has ever solved a problem by worrying about it. So have
a little faith and keep swimming forward and life will be just fine.

The Thing about Me – We don’t always have to play the judge and jury.
This tune is about a person who accepts people for the way they are.
No problem. You do things your way….I’ll do things my way… And
that’s OK.

Aren’t those great? And I’m so glad that Princess likes it. In fact, she wouldn’t even let me listen to the radio in the car. As soon as that seat belt clicked, she was telling me “Let’s listen to my CD!” She even made up her own Groovy Ruby theme song that sounds a lot like the Scooby Doo theme.

If you’ve got a little girl in the family, especially one that’s totally into music, get ‘em a copy of Strong Lovin’ & Fun and while you’re at it grab their first CD, Cool Like That.

Or you can try to win one. Just visit the Groovy Ruby website and either listen to some clips or, if you don’t have or can’t use audio on your computer, read the descriptions. Then come back here and tell me which song you think the little girl in your life would really like.

I’ll take comments until Tuesday, Nov 25th at 10 pm CST then choose a random winner.

Well, not quite…but I do feel a lot better. I took some pain meds last night and got a decent night’s sleep. And knowing that I have a lot of stuff to do this afternoon has me motivated. I’m in a pretty good mood and indulging in some guilty pleasures is keeping me awake and amused, at least until my coffee is ready.

Here’s my list of guilty pleasures so far today:

1) TV – Crime shows: I am hooked on these, especially the ones about women. Its a very bizarre fascination I have with them. Its ironic how someone like me who is admittedly “crazy” can not even imagine even thinking about, much less attempting, some of the stuff these women have done. I mean even I’m not that crazy! But now I’m watching ‘Cheaters’ because, let’s face it, those people are funny.

2) Music – thanks to Gorilla Sushi, I was reminded that I have an account at Last.fm, so I downloaded it and I’ve been listening to some recommended and “similar artists” tunes. I will sheepishly admit that it pulled up my recently played list from my iTunes and the last several items were some story time podcasts for Princess.

3) Teh Internets – I’m doing some blog hopping courtesy of Entrecard and finding some interesting and funny stuff. And I’ve watched this video on YouTube, courtesy of my British friend Sam, at least twice because its just that damn funny. And speaking of Gorilla Sushi, not only do you need to stop by (I might have a little crush on Jason) but they’re also having yet another monthly giveaway. Here’s the scoop:
