Groovy Ruby Rocks (and I’m giving away a CD)

Last modified on 2008-11-20 03:53:19 GMT. 8 comments. Top.

Who knew a girl band could be so cool to little girls? Sure, there are other girl groups out there but I don’t think you want your 5 to 11 year old listening to The Donnas or The Runaways. So if Britney or Miley are a bit much for you and your girls, get them the latest Groovy Ruby Rocks CD.

Dean Laterra, the teacher and songwriter behind Groovy Ruby, describes them as “Beatles meets the Go-Go Girls”…perfect description! The music is upbeat and the lyrics have a lesson in them.

Take a look at some of the stories behind the songs:

Right Now - Now is the perfect time to do your part in spreading love
around the world and making it a better place. Hold open a door. Say
hello with a smile. Whatever. Do something that spreads a little love.

It’s Okay - Stop worrying already. Life has ups and downs, but just
keep doing your best and plugging away and everything will be just
fine. No one has ever solved a problem by worrying about it. So have
a little faith and keep swimming forward and life will be just fine.

The Thing about Me - We don’t always have to play the judge and jury.
This tune is about a person who accepts people for the way they are.
No problem. You do things your way….I’ll do things my way… And
that’s OK.

Aren’t those great? And I’m so glad that Princess likes it. In fact, she wouldn’t even let me listen to the radio in the car. As soon as that seat belt clicked, she was telling me “Let’s listen to my CD!” She even made up her own Groovy Ruby theme song that sounds a lot like the Scooby Doo theme.

If you’ve got a little girl in the family, especially one that’s totally into music, get ‘em a copy of Strong Lovin’ & Fun and while you’re at it grab their first CD, Cool Like That.

Or you can try to win one. Just visit the Groovy Ruby website and either listen to some clips or, if you don’t have or can’t use audio on your computer, read the descriptions. Then come back here and tell me which song you think the little girl in your life would really like.

I’ll take comments until Tuesday, Nov 25th at 10 pm CST then choose a random winner.

I’m Crazy, she’s Psycho

Last modified on 2008-11-20 03:56:44 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

Lauren Mayer is the Psycho one. No, she didn’t tick me off. That’s what she calls herself. Actually, she’s Psycho Super Mom. I think that’s a little different than being a “super psycho” mom but I’m not sure.

Anyway, Lauren has just released her second CD, ‘Return of Psycho Super Mom.’

Here’s what her bio says about her:

Lauren Mayer is a singer, songwriter, music teacher, comic, and sleep-deprived mom. She is a five-time recipient of the San Francisco Cabaret Gold Award, a Peninsula Arts Grant recipient, and a phi beta kappa graduate of Yale University. Her songs have been heard on A&E’s Good Time Cafe, the Dr. Demento Show, and more, she is the author of several musicals published by Contemporary Drama Service, and she is the co-founder and songwriter for Curriculum Rocks, a company producing entertainingly educational music for kids. She is the mother of 2 boys who introduce her to really cool music, who sing backup on her kids’ CDs, and who inspire her wackier comedy songs.

Here’s what her CD says about her:

She is sleep deprived.
She’d rather have a vodka tonic than a low fat vanilla soy latte.
Her kids annoy her sometimes. (Don’t all kids do that?)
She went from being hip to hating her hips.
Women really can do it all, even if they don’t always want to.
And, most of all, she is hilarious and brutally honest.

I tossed her CD into my suitcase purse and listened to it in the car and I got some pretty strange looks from people who were probably thinking “Why is that crazy mom laughing when she’s in the car by herself?”

If you wanna take a listen, you can preview clips on her website and you can order the CD on her website or at Amazon.

Need an affordable printer that does it all?

Last modified on 2008-11-07 14:49:13 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

When I was shopping for a new printer, I asked my mom and a few friends for ideas and recommendations. I needed a printer that would print photos, make copies, and scan documents but I didn’t have much money to spend on one. Some of the responses I got were along the lines of “If you find one, let me know!” Seems like I wasn’t the only one that was searching for something affordable that could print, scan and copy.

Then I got a chance to try out a Lexmark X3650. This printer offers all of the features I needed at a very affordable price of less than $100.

Lexmark has designed this printer with the home office or small office user and the busy mom in mind. Its very easy to use and it even has a convenient port on the front of the printer that makes it easy to hook up a laptop computer for quick printing.

Everyone in my family has used this printer and both my teenagers and my 6 year old were impressed with it. Bubba used it to scan some pages from one of his textbooks and make copies of an assignment. He had absolutely no problems at all setting it up. He even taught his little sister how to use it and in no time, Princess was printing off coloring book pages all by herself.

Making copies with the Lexmark X3650 All-In-One Printer is simple with just one push of a button. The scanner can easily handle thick books and reports with a screen resolution of up to 600×1200 dpi. Your photos can be printed directly from your camera, memory card, or USB flash drive. And with Precision Sense ™ technology, the Lexmark X3650 will detect the type of paper being used and then adjust the print settings automatically.

If you’re in the market for a new printer that’s affordable and easy to use but still offers all of the features you need, definitely get your hands on the Lexmark X3650 All-In-One Printer.

Snack attack!

Last modified on 2008-10-26 16:13:04 GMT. 20 comments. Top.

Look, I’m a busy mom. I don’t always have time to cook and sometimes its just me at home so its not worth it to cook a full meal. When the kids are gone, I usually eat leftovers, fast food, or frozen quick meals. But the frozen meals all seem to be low-cal, low-fat, low-taste. I mean, come on, if I wanted to eat watered down bland stuff, I’d stick with Ramen noodles.

So when I got the chance to try out something new, I said “Of course!”

Pillsbury now has a new line of appetizers called ‘Savorings’. Here’s how they describe them:

Yes, they look that good in real life!

Yes, they look that good in real life!

Pillsbury Savorings Flaky Pastry Bites feature warm, flaky pastry dough wrapped around tasty fillings and come in three varieties; cheese and spinach, buffalo style chicken and mozzarella and pepperoni. They are easy to prepare (just 20 minutes in the oven) and are the perfect accompaniment to a glass of wine.

Ok, admit it. We’re all a little skeptical when it comes to ad copy. They use all of these yummy sounding descriptions for food that ends up tasting like cardboard. Not this time!
When they say “flaky pastry dough”, they mean it! The crust part came out perfectly. Kinda like croissants but a little crispier. I wanted to try the cheese and spinach but Princess was with me when I went to get them at the grocery store, so we got the mozzarella and pepperoni. Oh they were so good! Its hard trying to describe how something tastes so just think of them as gourmet pizza bite thingies. Is that fancy enough?

Now I don’t drink anymore or any less but let’s just say I’m familiar with wine and these really would be great with a glass or two of red. I’m thinking the cheese and spinach ones might go better with white though.

Hey, that’s a perfect lead-in to the giveaway!

For one lucky winner, I’ve got a coupon for a free box of Pillsbury Savorings and a gorgeous organza gift bag that contains a wine bottle topper, wine glass charms, a bottle opener, a wine and food guide, stampable wine tags and an appetizer plate that also holds your wine glass.

Just leave me a comment letting me know which flavor you’d like to try and you’ll be entered to win. I’ll take entries until Friday 10/24/08 at 10 PM Central then I’ll choose a random number based on the number of comments.

Good luck!

P.S. If you have a hard time finding these in your local grocery stores, like I did, you can visit the General Mills product locator to find which stores closest to you carry them.

Review-a-palooza: Unique Skins (and a giveaway!)

Last modified on 2008-10-18 17:00:40 GMT. 10 comments. Top.

UPDATE: Winners have been picked via my ultra-scientific random integer generator. Ok, so I had my kids pick a number between 1 and 9.

Diane from Crazy Mom’s Journal

Ginny from Mom of 2 Dancers

Karen from Frugal Mommy of 2 Girls

My kids and I are very into technology. Cell phones with unlimited text messaging? Check! Laptops? Check! iPods? Check! We’ve got an XBox, PlayStation 2, and Bubba has a PSP. So when we had a chance to try out Unique Skins, I knew we’d have no problem putting them to good use.

A few months ago, I got the new Samsung Instinct touch phone from Sprint. Since its so new and different, there aren’t very many cases available for it so I was pretty much stuck with the plain black one that came with the phone. Now I’m the type of person who likes my accessories to match my personality. For example, my old phone was red - my favorite color - and so is everything else in my purse. So to have a plain ol’ black phone in a plain ol’ black case was just annoying.

Not anymore. Now my phone matches my blog. (Don’t laugh! You laugh and I will hurt you. Ok, not really, but I will be very, very upset with you.) I’m serious. On the front of my phone is my tan background with the stars and the “Mom” tattoo and then on the back is a larger version of it. I can’t even begin to tell you how cool it is to have a “That Crazy Mom” phone thanks to Unique Skins.

These skins are really inexpensive so I had enough to get another custom skin. I had one made for Bubba to put on his PSP (Play Station Portable) and his also matches his blog - black with purple flames and then his name written in a purple graffiti font. He was thrilled! It looks so cool and it doesn’t interfere with actually using his PSP like another skin did.

Unique Skins are easy to apply and if you mess up - like I did….3 times - its really easy to take it off and put it back on again. If you end up with any bubbles during the application process, they can easily be pushed out without leaving any marks.

As far as design, they have a bunch of ready-made designs you can choose from, you can add text, rotate and resize the images, do whatever you want to get the look you want. I opted to upload our own images. If you use your own images and you also add text, I’d suggest making your own image with text so that you can be sure the colors match. We used their text editor on Bubba’s skin and their purple was a little different shade than the purple from his image.

Now the fun part….I have THREE gift codes to giveaway, worth $15 each. All you have to do is visit Unique Skins then come back here and leave me a comment telling me what kind of skin you’d choose. Would you decorate your iPod with your son’s school picture? Or customize your Blackberry with your business logo?

I’ll take comments through 10:00 PM Central time on Sunday, October 12th and then choose a winner using Random.org.

Ready? Go!

Review-a-palooza: Maiden America No-Slip Barrettes

Last modified on 2008-10-08 23:03:01 GMT. 4 comments. Top.

I don’t post pictures of my kids very often but if you’ve seen the few pics that I have posted of Princess, then you’ve seen that child’s hair. It’s very long and very fine. She was 4 years old before I even gave her so much as a trim and I’ve only done it twice more since then.

I love her hair. Its gorgeous. But its also impossible to do anything with! Those little clippy barrettes don’t stay in. Even ponytails don’t stay in. The only success I’ve had is braiding it.

Then I heard about Maiden America Non-Slip barrettes. When I was given the chance to review these, I mentioned it on Twitter and one of my Twitter people said “Let me know if they really are no-slip!”

They ARE! I did a little experiment. One morning I sent Princess to school with her regular clippy things in her hair. They were falling out before we even got to school. FAIL.

The next day, I did her hair using the Maiden America barrettes. They stayed in all.day. I kid you not! And I know they stayed in all day because when her barrettes fall out, she shoves them in her pocket or backpack because she can’t put them back in.

Maiden America: 1

Cheap clippy things: 0

And not only are these truly non-slip, they’re also beautiful! We tried several different styles and sizes. Princess has a pretty white floral barrette, a hot pink pair with crystals, a black and pink small one, a light blue one…pretty much something to match every one of her outfits. Maiden America has small flowers, big flowers, bows, velvet, satin and crystals and pearls. If you have a little girl who doesn’t have a lot of hair yet, you’ll want to get the tiny ones. And if you have a little girl with a lot of hair or thick hair, definitely go for the larger sizes. Like I said, we tried various sizes so we could use them to hold back just a little bit of hair at the sides or a big chunk of hair on top.

Princess and I both love these. She’s such a girly girl and she likes it when her hair looks pretty and, honestly, so do I. Its so much more fun than just throwing her hair back into a ponytail. Now we have both style and function.

Now my Princess doesn’t just act like a Princess…she looks like one too!

Share and share alike

Last modified on 2008-09-26 22:23:41 GMT. 2 comments. Top.

I was reading this post at Simple Mom today about brothers and sisters sharing a room. I left this comment:

My two oldest kids are about 2.5 years apart, my daughter being older than my son. They originally shared a room because of space but as they got older and we moved into a bigger house, they could’ve had their own rooms but they didn’t want to. In fact, they did have their own rooms and yet they would still end up sleeping in the same room, one of them sneaking into the other’s after I’d put them to bed.
So for years they had a bedroom and a playroom, probably up until they were ages 9 and 7. They are now 18 and almost 16 and they’re still extremely close.

I had forgotten all about that until I was writing that comment. Sissy and Bubba grew up sharing just about everything - a bedroom, a playroom, toys.

And then I realized that Princess won’t have that same experience. Since her siblings are so much older than she is, she doesn’t have to share much with them other than the TV, the Play Station or the computer.

Now I don’t want her growing up to be spoiled, selfish or stingy. (Ok, it might be a little too late on the spoiled thing.) I want her to be compassionate, giving, and willing to share with others.

Luckily, I’ve discovered a fun way to do this. Hasbro has this new series of games out called Noodleboro, one of which is the ‘Learning to Share’ Fun Park. She has a blast playing this. Its not just a regular ol’ board game. The layout of the game includes a carnival style layout with 4 different stations. The goal is to win prizes from each game and if you win more than one of a certain kind of prize, you earn a star by sharing your extra prize with another player who doesn’t have one.

The best thing about it is that there is no “winner.” The point of the game is for the entire group to collect enough stars before the sun goes down and the park closes. So rather than putting player against player, the players are working as a team.

We’ve had a lot of fun with this game. Of course, there have been times where we don’t worry about collecting the prizes and the stars; we just play with the little carnival games.

Oh, and if your child doesn’t have any problems sharing - meaning they’ve outgrown the “Mine!” stage - then you might want to try the other Noodleboro games. There’s the “Learning About Manners” Picnic Basket game and the “Learning to Listen” Pizza Palace game.

I need a girlfriend

Last modified on 2008-09-11 22:42:45 GMT. 2 comments. Top.

No, not that kind of girlfriend, although based on my experiences with dating lately it does sound like a better alternative.

I mean a girlfriend, like the kind you can tell anything to, the kind that will tell you yes those jeans DO make your butt look big, the kind who will rush over with a bottle of Absolut pint of Ben & Jerry’s when you find out the jerk is cheating on you.

That’s what Mary has. Actually, she has a few of them. See, Mary is really Meg Ryan and her girlfriends are Annette Bening, Debra Messing and Jada Pinkett Smith. And they’re all in a movie called ‘The Women‘.

‘The Women’ is a remake of a 1939 movie by the same name that takes a comical look at women and the ties that bind them. When ‘the women’ find out that Mary’s husband is having an affair - with Eva Mendes of all people who I absolutely adore but really want to choke in this movie - her friends come to her rescue. But its more than just a story about cheating spouses, its about loyalty, betrayal, gossip, careers, and friendships.

The amazing thing about ‘The Women‘ is what went on behind the scenes. If you visit Dove.com, you can watch a short film about “The Women Behind The Women” to learn, first-hand, how Hollywood creates the images we see on screen, highlighting the work and people involved in making a major motion picture come to life.

The short film encourages women to challenge today’s beauty stereotypes, celebrates the opportunities for women to empower one another and explores the diverse definitions of beauty, shared through interviews with some of the cast and crew of The Women. The Women Behind “The Women” is available exclusively on Dove.com.

Here’s what you’ll find at Dove.com:

  • View exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of The Women & The Women Behind “The Women”
  • Read the Director’s Diary, written by Diane English
  • Go Behind-the-Scenes with Dove teen journalist Cammy Nelson
  • Download self-esteem building tools for girls, moms and mentors
  • Enter for a chance to win a trip for you and a friend to the LA film premiere of The Women on September 4 (Sweepstakes ends 8/20. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.).
  • Enter for a chance to win one of 100 pairs of movie tickets each day between 9/3 and 9/19 (No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.).

Its all tied in with Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty which is just awesome. Its been around for a few years and already it has made such a difference. Remember how shocking and controversial it was a few years ago when Dove ran ads showing women of all sizes, shapes, colors and ages (some of them in their skivvies!)? Now we don’t even bat a well-curved and mascara’d eyelash. Yay Dove!!

Anyway…I get to do something this weekend that I haven’t done in a long time. I get to go relax and enjoy a movie all by myself. No potty breaks during the good scenes, no trips to the concession stand because someone’s root beer is all gone.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

The Dangerous Days of Daniel X

Last modified on 2008-08-28 02:23:59 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

All of you moms and dads with teen or even pre-teen boys, listen up. Bestselling author James Patterson, along with Michael Ledwidge, is on a mission to get these kids into reading. And he’s doing a great job at it with ‘The Dangerous Days of Daniel X’.

I initially took the opportunity to review this book because I thought Bubba would like it. He hasn’t even had a chance to read it yet because I’ve been hogging it. Hey, I wanted to read it first! And I’m glad I did.

Just to give you a brief plot synopsis, Daniel goes on the hunt for aliens on ‘The List’ after witnessing them murder his parents and uses his superpowers, like shape shifting, to fulfill his mission. Its like Superman meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

As I was reading it, I kept thinking of how much it reminded me of Neil Gaiman’s ‘American Gods’. Its a little bit sci-fi but its more like a comic book. Wait, they don’t call them that anymore. What’s the phrase now? Graphic novel! Yeah, that’s it. It’s like a graphic novel only without the graphics. I could even “see” this book being made into a movie in my mind.

I don’t want to get into too many details about the plot and what happens because, well, that ruins it. But I wanted to address the concept of getting teen boys into reading. James Patterson has really tapped into a much-overlooked audience. Most YA (young adult) books are aimed at girls. Look at the popularity of the ‘Twilight’ series. But other than Harry Potter, can you think of a popular series that guys would enjoy?

Aside from drawing these kids in with the plot, Patterson also keeps them engaged with short chapters (hello? sons with ADHD anyone? *raising my hand*) but he also makes references to pop culture that readers will be familiar with which keeps the story modern.

Now I’m fortunate enough to have a son who does enjoy reading but if he didn’t, this would be the book I’d use to reel him in. And even though his reading tastes are a little beyond his chronological age - he’s into Nietzsche, Shakespeare, Darwin, and “quantum physics” or something like that - he’s still interested in reading this one.

But he’s going to have to wait…until I get done reading it again.

Cereal and yogurt and prizes, oh my!

Last modified on 2008-09-01 04:24:53 GMT. 7 comments. Top.

I love it when I get the opportunity to write reviews of products I already like and new products from companies I already trust. And I like it even more when the companies give me the opportunity to share them with you by providing giveaway prizes. This time I get to do all three!

First, there’s the new Cocoa Puffs Combos cereal. Before I tell you about that one, I need to confess something. When it comes to cereal, I am so far from being a grown up. If I have to choose between something sweet with a cartoon character on the box and something with bran and wheat and some kind of coated cluster thing, I’m going for the stuff that’s going to leave me some flavored milk when I’m done. But now that I have to steal from share with my kids, I’m a little more conscious about what’s in the cereal.

The good news is that Cocoa Puffs Combos is made with whole grain and is a good source of Calcium and Vitamin D. The better news is that this stuff is good! I’m a fan of Cocoa Puffs as it is (see “flavored milk” reference above) but now they’ve added vanilla puffs to the chocolate ones. I hope somebody got a big fat bonus for coming up with that idea!

The other product that we had the chance to try is Yoplait Kids yogurt. Naturally, I jumped on the chance to review it because its already a favorite in my family. In fact, I had a Family Pack of Yoplait (strawberry and strawberry banana) in my fridge at the time and had kiddy yogurt on my shopping list so Princess wouldn’t eat all of mine. Usually, she gets the Dora yogurt or the drinkables or those Go-gurt tubes. But this time, she picked out the Trix yogurt. And she loved it.

Now if you’re worried about the nutritional value of Yoplait Kids, here’s some stats for you. It has brain building Omega-3 DHA and is a great source of vitamins A and D. Yoplait Kids is also an excellent source of bone-building calcium with 25 percent less sugar than the leading kid’s yogurt and no artificial sweeteners or flavors.

Ok, before I get to the giveaway part, I wanted to let you know that you can go to the Yoplait Kids website and get a coupon for $1.50 off. So you saved $1.50 just for reading my post.

You’ve also got a chance to win one of these:

  • 1 of 4 coupons for a free box of Cocoa Puffs Combos
  • A Yoplait Kids insulated travel cooler and a fun, educational game along with it

All you have to do is leave me a comment letting me know which one you’d like to win. You don’t have to pick between the two. If you’d like to win either one (or both), just say so!

The giveaway will end on Sunday, August 31st. I’ll close comments at 8 PM Central then pick 4 numbers for the cereal coupons and then another number for the travel cooler and game. (Even if you win one of the cereal coupons, you’ll still be eligible for the second prize too.)

Got it? Good! And good luck!

It’s not easy being green

Last modified on 2008-08-26 03:25:31 GMT. 1 comment. Top.

I do everything I can to be good to the environment. I work from home to save gas. I plan my errands all on one day as much as I possibly can. I use those funny looking light bulbs. I use biodegradable laundry soap and my cleaning supplies consist mainly of baking soda and vinegar. I use recyclable tote bags. Et cetera, et cetera.

Because I work from home and most of my work is online, I’m not using much paper. In fact, my printer isn’t even working at the moment but Mom said she’d help me get a new one so I’ve been researching to find environmentally friendly (but still affordable) office supplies. With it being my Mom’s money, I’ve been trying to find a cheap printer and I found this website called Superwarehouse.com.

I ended up spending like an hour on this website. They’ve got tons of stuff, all in one place, for both home and office. When I say office, I don’t mean just home office equipment like printers and hard drives. They’ve even got the big office stuff like multimedia projectors and 24 port ethernet hubs. (Am I a geek for thinking those are cool??) And they’ve got all the major brands including the eco-friendly name brands like Canon, IBM, Apple and Sony.

I feel like a little kid writing a letter to Santa Claus because I bookmarked all of the stuff I want so I can ask for it later! Hey, maybe I will write him a letter. I’ve been asking since I was 7 years old for proof that he doesn’t exist and no one has given me any. So it wouldn’t hurt, right?

How does this sound?

“Dear Santa,

I have tried to be been a very good girl this year. I didn’t cheat on my taxes, I haven’t broken any laws (except for that one little speeding ticket but that was last year), and I’ve been recycling.

I know most people will think I’m crazy too old to be writing a letter to Santa but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. So since you’re stopping by our house anyway, if you have room on your sleigh could you bring me these?

I’d like:

  • A new digital camera, preferably a digital SLR
  • An HP desktop to replace our old one that’s still running on Windows 98
  • The Adobe Creative Suite collection
  • A new wireless set up so I don’t have to worry about losing my signal
  • A 16 GB Zen with video and FM radio

Oh, and to make things easier on you and the elves, you can just get it all online at Superwarehouse.com

Have a safe trip! We’ll leave some cookies for you but I hope you don’t mind sugar-free. Bubba’s diabetic and I’m on a diet.

Thanks Santa!”

Think it’ll work? I’ll let you know on December 26th.

Gee, your hair smells terrific!

Last modified on 2008-08-26 03:25:48 GMT. 1 comment. Top.

Does anyone else remember those shampoo commercials and that brand, or am I really showing my age here? What about the ones that claimed they had beer in them? (Maybe they really did, who knows. I wasn’t about to drink the shampoo and find out.)

Anyway, the whole point of this post is shampoo. Suave Shampoo to be exact. And Suave conditioner. And Suave mousse. And Suave hairspray. Oh yeah, baby! Your favorite affordable hair care line has it all.

Why did I highlight “affordable”? Because the economy sucks. And I’m a single mom. Affordable is important to me.

But so is quality. And Suave has that too. I had the chance to try out some of their products from Suave Professionals via Mom Central. These are just as good as the so-called “professional” shampoos but cost a WHOLE lot less.

I tried the Vibrant Shine and Bubba tried the Color Care. (Yes, the child colors his hair. Don’t ask.) I also had a chance to try the Styling Foam mousse before he stole borrowed it from me.

Loved. Them. I kid you not, when I was out driving around running errands after I had messed around with my hair trying this stuff out, I got cat-called. No joke. First time in a very, very, very long time quite a while that a work truck full of guys hollered at me.

Now I’m already a devoted Suave user - I have the coconut body wash, Princess has their strawberry body wash for kids - so I wasn’t at all surprised that I liked the shampoos and conditioners too.

Did I mention how inexpensive it is? And how “inexpensive” is important to me? And how the economy sucks and I’m broke? I did? Sorry. But its true!!

So the next time you you’ve got your shampoo bottles tipped upside down trying to get every little drop out, just grab some Suave instead. At their prices, you can just toss out that last little bit and go buy more.

Does anyone LIKE cleaning??

Last modified on 2008-07-24 00:45:54 GMT. 0 comments. Top.

I hate it. I thought that was the point in having kids? Aren’t they supposed to do chores and stuff?

I definitely did not inherit the neat-freak gene from my mother. When she sold her house in Oklahoma, all she did was add a few decorations and it was show-ready. My house? I need at least three days notice before anyone comes over.

The three chores I hate the most are dishes (even with a dishwasher), laundry, and the bathroom. So I make the kids do the dishes by threatening them with bodily harm if they plan on watching TV or getting on the computer. And the laundry…well, I’m still working on that one. But I do love my new Charlie’s Soap. It’s cheaper and its non-toxic and biodegradable. And cleaning the bathroom just got a whole lot easier with Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber. Its got these disposable pads that attach to the scrubber and the scrubber has an easy-grip handle. Soooo much easier than dragging out a nasty sponge and a can of Ajax (or, in my case, baking soda) and then rinsing that sponge out again. I’m all about convenience and less nastiness.

Maybe now that cleaning the bathrooom got easier, I can bribe the kids into doing that one too.

P.S. If you go to the Scrubbing Bubbles website, you can get a coupon for $2.75 off!
