Stupid people shouldn’t vote
So I guess I didn't scare you off, huh? Good! Welcome back!
I’m not a very political person. I pay attention to the news, I read some political blogs (MOMocrats is my favorite), I get the MoveOn.org newsletter, and I answer when asked about my opinions. But I don’t openly campaign for anyone because I believe politics is like religion…it’s just not cool to force your beliefs about either of them on others.
Yet someone who I am very close to (by blood, not necessarily choice) always sends me both political and religious emails. I just keep my opinions to myself, I don’t respond, and I delete it. There was one time that I did rant about it on a MySpace blog entry because this same person had sent me a religious email and a racist email within a few minutes of each other and I was disgusted at the hypocrisy of it.
Then today I get another one in my email. The subject line read “Scary changes coming”. (Keep that in mind when you see my response.)
Nice.
This time, I did reply to this person’s email.
My response:
“Well he’s getting my vote. But its okay, he’s not 100% black anyway.
What’s scary is that people who can’t even spell “Democratic” are allowed to vote.”
(Yes, that little smiley guy is being sarcastic.)

Wow. I wouldn’t even know how to respond if I got an email like that. And you are correct about the spelling thing. Geeesh!

He emailed me back and said “I hate to cancel out your vote but I’m doing everything I can. And if he’s 50% black and 50% white then how is he “African-American”?
Knowing that this person is an avid golfer, I responed “Same way Tiger Woods is ‘black’ I guess.”
Its sad that race and gender are even an issue in a presidential election.
John McCain, meet your supporters.

lol – great comeback! But seriously, you are spot on about the ridiculous issues out there.
P.S. Thanx for your support on my post about the twins – I’m SO glad that I’m not in limbo about it anymore!!

I just read this post and I was amazed that many other people think this way. There is a book on lulu.com called Citizens and civilians that talk about this and how people should earn their vote through knowlede of government instead of the current system.
