"Ten Randoms" tag

Hey, if this is your first time here, subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Ya know, I think this will be my first “tagged” post. And I owe it all to Pauline at Deadlines and Diapers!

Wow, this is gonna be hard….
Ok….

1) I am a compulsive magazine reader. If there’s a magazine within arm’s reach, I have to read it. Woman’s Day from February 1997? Hand it over. Reader’s Digest? Love the jokes! I have about 4 stacks of magazines in my house right now. (I donate them to my therapist’s office when I’m done to ease my guilt from snagging a few of their’s.) And when I buy a magazine off the rack I have to grab one from the middle. I don’t like taking any from the front because usually people have been browsing through those so pages are folded or smudged.

2) I heart Wonder Woman. I watched the TV show when I was a kid and I pretended to be her, bouncing imaginary bullets off of my wrist and trapping the bad guys with my Lasso of Truth. Now that I’m a grownup I have Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, I have 3 different WW t-shirts, a Pez dispenser (thanks, Mom!) and an official WW doll action figure from DC Direct.

3) When I was 5, I broke my arm. My cousins and I were playing in the sprinklers in my backyard and we decided to use the clothesline poles as a jungle gym. Wet poles are very, very slippery. I landed on my arm and, without even crying, I got up and walked to the house, banged on the screen door and told my grandmother “I think I broke my arm.” When we got to the ER, my dad passed out. We still joke about how I was tougher than he was.

4) We have two degus. My kids and I are all animal lovers but because we rent our house, we can’t have a dog or cat. But that doesn’t stop them from begging me for one. Bubba, the future veterinarian, will spend an hour on Petfinder looking at them. One day he was on there and ran across an ad for these two little creatures we’d never heard of…and now they are my babies. Princess absolutely adores them. She’d rather have a pony but she loves Baby and Tinkerbell just as much.

5) My two favorite TV shows are Friends and Family Guy. I’ve seen every Friends episode at least a dozen times and I watch 4 episodes of Family Guy every weekday… between 5 and 6 PM on our local CW channel and between 9 and 10 PM on Cartoon Network.

6) My favorite color is red. My bedroom is (dark) red. My cell phone is red. My purse is red, my waller is red, my hoodie is red, my next car will be red, and when it comes to candy and popsicles I always pick the red ones first.

7) I’ve actually been married twice. But the second one doesn’t count. It was one of those stupid mistakes whirlwind things. We met in May, got married in July, I filed for divorce in September and it was final the following February. I hadn’t even gotten the hang of spelling my new Czech last name. In fact, I don’t think I could spell it right now if you asked me.

8) I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since I was 7 years old. My “uncle” (he was actually my dad’s cousin) was a lawyer and he had two Corvettes and a swimming pool. I didn’t know what a lawyer was, I just wanted a pool. Then as I got older and found out what a lawyer does (gets paid to argue, right?) that sealed the deal. But Life took a different turn and I never got to go to law school so I settled for being a paralegal.

9) I love the beach but one of my worst fears is drowning. I’ve lived in Florida twice and I hope to live there again someday. But between seeing ‘Jaws’ and getting pulled into an undertow once, I’m a little skittish about being in the ocean.

10) My mother’s maiden name is the same as my dad’s last name, so when she got married she didn’t have to change it. That also means that my maiden name is the same as my mom’s. Since my mom had 6 sisters and only 2 brothers (one of them died at age 19), and my uncle had one daughter and one son. So….my (boy) cousin and I are the only ones out of 17 (I think) grandkids that have the family’s last name.

Hey, that wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Was it as good for you as it was for me? No? Ok then.

And now I’m tagging 5 more people…

This was a great tag! I am having the same strange behavior with the magazine - never take the first one on the rack :-)

And thank you for tagging Chica & Pumuckl. Their 10 Randoms are up on the blog! :-)

Yay, Family Guy! I’m with you on #9 too - I can’t even get close to the glass at the aquarium and I blame it on “Jaws” too!

Damn - you are a tough girl, for sure! But it’s sweet how your Dad just couldn’t bear to see you “broken.”

Great post - thanks for the tag! Will be grabbin’ it soon, I promise!
