Thanks to small-town living, I don’t have access to all of that fancy schmancy technology stuff like TiVo and DVR which means I’m stuck sitting through commercials. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes…well, not so much.
I was thinking about TV commercials today after Princess and I picked up some of those chocolate dunker things from Pizza Hut this afternoon. You’ve seen it, right? The one where the little French girl is offering samples of a fancy new French dessert to bakery patrons and then OMG those aren’t fancy pastries and she’s not from France!!!
Yeah, I’m not buying it. You can’t just put some crumbled candy bars on top of pizza dough and throw a little cup of chocolate syrup on the side and fool people into thinking its some sort of heavenly hybrid of a chocolate éclair and creme brulee. So those people on “hidden camera” are either really dumb or they got paid a LOT to act surprised.
But then there’s the Free Credit Report dot com shtick. Oh man. Somebody got a big ol’ fat bonus for coming up with that stuff. We all know the words to those little jingles. You may not realize it but you do. You also may not realize just how much you want to choke that curly-haired dude with the goofy smile, but I do. Especially when he sings the one about not knowing his fiancée had bad credit and how, if he had known, he’d “be a happy bachelor with a dog and a yard“. Never thought about that, did ya? You were so hooked by the catchy little tune that you didn’t realize that the dude was saying that his new wife’s bad credit, had he known about it, would have been a deal breaker. Jerk.

Now they’ve got him out riding bicycles to a tune that’s not nearly as infectious so I don’t know the words to it yet but I immediately recognized the guy. He’s getting about as annoying as Chad from the Alltel commercials, except that Chad is more tolerable because he’s hot. Anyway, I’m not sure what the point to the new Free Credit Report dot com commercial is or why the dude is riding a bike. Maybe his wife got that blue “used sub compact” in the divorce.

LOL, I am laughing my butt off. No I didn’t know that was what he said, because I didn’t pay attention to the commercial. Then about her getting the car in the divorce, I’m laughing like an idiot and no one knows why.

I can’t stand those commercials either. Wish I could get paid to come up with crap!

I can’t stand that guy! And th one when him and his friends are living in her parent’s basement is the worse. Why is his grown behind leeching off of her? He is the man and should be not only providing for himself but for his wife also! What a loser!

AW, c’mon! This little guy is just ADORABLE!! I stop whatever I’m doing just to watch & listen to his commercials when he comes on! He is just TOO CUTE! And, yeah, I got the one about his wife, living in the basement, etc, etc, but, hey, it’s JUST a commercial! It’s just to make the point about checking your credit, that’s all! It’s NOT REAL, PEOPLE! Get a life!
